Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She was then selected to become a Gideon's Promise Fellow, completing a rigorous trial advocacy intensive for promising young public defenders from around the country. Abbee took those skills to the Orleans Public Defenders, where she represented hundreds of clients charged with everything from petty theft to attempted murder. In New Orleans, Abbee was able to negotiate dismissals or favorable resolutions in even the most challenging cases, while always keeping her clients' goals, priorities, and unique life stories at the forefront. She also developed a specialty in delinquency practice, as one of only two OPD attorneys representing young people in Orleans Parish Juvenile Court.
