Eden Rose “Petal” Niles

Eden Rose “Petal” Niles earned her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School. She completed her B.A. at Scripps College where she studied the history and impacts of mass incarceration alongside the history of immigration enforcement in the United States. 

Petal has represented people accused of crimes in criminal court, immigrants seeking to vacate previous convictions, tenants facing eviction, and people with disabilities in need of accommodations. While at Harvard, she received recognition for her pro bono legal service and earned academic distinctions in constitutional law and the law of capital punishment. She also served as a teaching fellow in ethical philosophy courses at the undergraduate campus. 

Petal seeks to understand every client’s background and experiences in order to best present their case and personal circumstances to the court. She has worked with people with mental health challenges, complex traumas, substance use disorders, learning disabilities, and developmental disabilities.

Prior to her admission to the California State Bar, Petal volunteered as a community advocate for individuals and families in federal immigration court and worked with the Ventura County Public Defender’s Office to advocate for reduced prison sentences for incarcerated people. She also spent three years as a law clerk at Nolan Barton Olmos and Luciano before law school. The firm was delighted to welcome her back as an associate attorney shortly after her graduation.

Petal is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, California Public Defenders Association, and California Attorneys for Criminal Justice.
